Surprise, Surprise!

I've witnessed a policeman busy "issuing" ticketing rather than helping the poor motorcyclist on the floor less than 20 feet away.

Today, I saw two policemen pushing an old Nissan which broke down on Federal Highway.

I guess the good cops still exist...

Jakarta-Bandung, March 2008

Zura and Zetty asked me to join them for a shopping trip to Jakarta-Bandung. Since got free accomodation at Aji's, why not? Then due to the election, Aji had to come back to M'sia. So, we had to get our own accomodation.

Lucky luck was shining at us when Mr. Wong offered the company's apartment in Jakarta. Best of all, we can use his driver througout the trip, even to Bandung. Yoo hoo!

The flight was at 7am. Which means we have to at the airport by 6am, which also means that we have to leave for the airport at around 5am, which also means have to wake up at 4am! What a torture! I almost overslept. Dunno why my alarm clock did not ring and I suddenly heard Bryan said "Ling, it's 4.30am already!". Wah, I that's the fastest I've ever woke up!

We met up at Zura's and Syed sent us to the airport. We got there at about 6.30am. Luckily they still let us check in.

The flight was 2 hrs and they are 1 hr behind us. So we arrived the at 9am. "Pak Angang" came to pick us up. We were screaming for food cos we have not eaten anything yet. We keep reminding him that the first destination has to be for food!. So he brought us to some local nasi padang.

They'll serve all the dishes and you eat watever you want. They charge you only the dishes you "touched". The meal for 4 was 50,000+ RP.

The we head straight to Bandung. Traffic was very heavy as it was a public holiday that day. It's the Nyepi Day @ Silence Day for the Hindus. The normal journey takes 2 hours and it took us 3 hours that day.

We know we are close...

Street peddlers. You see them almost every where especially during heavy traffic...

Gloomy Bandung...

Had some difficulty as Pak Angang is not familiar with Bandung. Took us some time to find our way.

Pak Angang asking for directions...

Finally...

The highly recommended place to shop...

Rumah Mode. Check out the crowd. There's only one shop there...

At last we were so hungry and had no strength to look for food and we settled for...

Zetty, Zura and Pak Angang...

Bebek aka duck... Another meal that cost us 50,000+ RP...

After 3 hours of drive(more like sleeping :p), here we are at the City Loft Apartment.

Cost about 800mil RP

The view from the apartment...

Demonstration is quite common in Jakarta. And we passed by this...

Public transport...

Jakarta - China Town

Along Jalan Mangga Dua. In one of these complexes that we lost most our money and soul...

Other than shopping, we have not done anything at all in Jakarta. So, it's time to at least visit the most happening area @ Kemang...

The KFC also nicer one...

Very blur pics because the road was so bumpy...

We did not stop by Kemang. Just wanted to have a look. After Kemang, was more shopping. Until we were desperately looking for foot reflexology. Pak Angang must have thought that he can get away early for the day as there's nothing much to do at night in Jakarta. Sekali, we found a 24-hour foot reflexology while searching for dinner. Without saying anything to each other, we dashed into the parlour and Pak Angang only got to have his dinner at almost 12am. Haha! By the time we got back to the apartment, it was almost 1am and not very much earlier than the day before. AHAHAHHAHAHAHHA!

As our flight home was at 3pm, we had to leave for the airport by 1pm. Which means we can't go out for more shoppping. So we decided to drop by the hair salon in the connecting mall. A hair-cut cost less than 30,000RP. I wanted to have mani and pedi too (which is less than 30,000RP each) but the "expert" was not in. So I opt for colour. Colouring was only abt 130,000RP.

Had our lunch in the airport. I spent all my RP and had to for donation of 1,000RP for my lunch... Hehe...

Good people

I met two good people today. It has really made my day. Really never thought of meeting such good people in this city I live in.

Was at Mid Valley to run errands. As usual, it's difficult to find parking. Then I saw this elderly woman with her and another young lady pushing a trolley and I turned into the lane. Then the old lady signalled to me saying they are on the other lane. She did it more than once. So I quickly reverse and move to "their" lane. To my surprise, the young lady was actually standing beside the car, not loading their stuff into the car to wait for me. When I on the lane, then she only started to load her things into the car.

That's very nice. I can't help smiling and waving to them as they were leaving.

Nice.... :D

Cool dentist..

the dentist asked if he could pray for me before he started...

it goes something like this... "... pray for the root canal, the crown.... and the nerve to stay strong..." (the prayer was much longer than this it took at least a couple of minutes)

wow!

Jitra, Kedah - 9 Nov 07

A few of us at work planned to visit Hadyai when we visit Jitra for an event. I was not involved in the event and hence have to use my annual leave.

A couple of them left one night earlier than us. On the way, one of them text us saying they forgot their passports. Me thinking Hadyai is off since they forgot their passports also did not bring my passport despite Bryan's reminder.

Our first destination was the famous prawn mee (Malay style) in Butterworth. It's a serene, cosy place. The prawn mee wasn't that good. No pictures of the prawn mee because we were too excited. Only the place...

By the time we were done, it was early afternoon. So we got Dennis to bring for nice massage as compensation of him forgetting his passport. He led us into Alor Setar. Drove with confidence while leading us. Then he stopped. We stopped too thinking we have finally arrived. Who knows when we got down, he said "I forgot where is the place!". Cheh. What a spoilsport. So we had no choice but to head back to the hotel. Damn. It was only 4pm. What are we going to do until bed time? So we head off to Bukit Kayu Hitam. Hehe. The closest we could get to Hadyai.

Can't get into Thailand, a picture also jadi lar....

Then we went shopping at the duty free complex. Not bad at all. They have plenty of cookies that we haven't seen and the packaging actually looked good. As usual, I'm attracted to the packaging and got some cookies.

Had dinner at the supposedly famouse Chendol pulut. Nothing fantastic though. However, the service and the attitude of the people sucked.

The next day, those with passports went ahead to Hadyai. We actually can get our ways in without passport with 30 bucks. But hey. No way am I going to take up that offer. What if I couldn't get back in? I still love Malaysia very much and did not intend to stay in Thailand as illegal immigrant.

So the three of us decided to visit this place called Lye Huat Garden. Looks interesting from the outside. Had lunch before we went in. Chinese food. It was good and cheap. We had a chicken dish, fried sotong, mixed vege, foo yong egg and seaweed soup. The bill was only 30 plus. Filled and satisfied, we went into Lye Huat Garden happily. Entrance fee was 10 bucks and it's damn worth it. We surely wouldn't visit this place if it's close to home.

The thing that got me most excited was the chicken that appeared in Da Chang Jin. It's so colourful and beautiful.

Then there are the cacat arowana....

Then we saw this white goat. It's nice. I like the curly hair. This goat also has exceptionally big "balls". Sam asked why's the ball so big. I said "it's because he's not wearing underwear". And I think he believed it. AAHAHHAHAHHAHAH! Too bad I forgot to take a picture of the balls.

Cute looking owl...

Elephant Sanctuary, 6 October 2007

With Sally being the efficient and effective planner, the trip is finally set on the 6 October. 3 of us plus lil J and Alim began our journey by meeting at Sally's place at 9am. James was there with Mimi to see us off (ahahhaha. He can't go with us as much as he would like to). Our first destination was for lunch near the foothill of Genting. This place is famouse for their ginger and groundnuts. Lunch was deep fried stir pork, rice-wine chicken and vege. The pork was fantastic and the rice wine chicken was the best I've tasted in KL (almost as good as my mom's). Red bananas...
Then, we proceed to our next destination, the Elephant Sanctuary @ Kuala Gandah. At about 1pm, we see...
The activities only starting at 2pm. We had one hour to kill. So, we walked to the orang asli kampung just a few steps away. The bored faces of Sally and May while waiting...
Finally we see the elephants walking out... Feeding the elephants... Yucky elephant food... Their favourite were the bananas we brought... Elephant rides... Baby elephants.. Baby elephants in the river... Elephant "adventure ride"...

You Are a Carousel

You are young at heart and a truly playful person. No one would ever accuse you of taking life too seriously.
You are definitely in things for the fun. You find joy easily, and you are often building up anticipation for your next adventure.
In relationships, you tend to want to be babied and taken care of.
And while you may be a bit high maintenance, you are incredibly loyal.

Your life is simple and satisfying. Each day you treat yourself to something you enjoy.
You have a lot of emotional attachments, and experiences are extra vivid to you.
You tend to be nostalgic and sentimental. The past is important to you.
Comfortable around all living things, you have a special connection to animals and children.

At your best, you are whimsical, free spirited, and creative.
Even if your schemes seem a bit strange, they usually work out wonderfully.
At your worst, you are spoiled, demanding, and impossible to satisfy.
You've been known to act like a brat if you aren't getting your way!
You Are 32% Good
You try to do the right thing, but only when it works out in your favor anyway.
You're not exactly evil or without ethics, but you could be going down a pretty dark path. You probably have good intentions.
You've just gotten comfortable with acting the way you do.Knowing the difference between good and bad is half the battle.
Acting like a good person is the hard part.
You are also probably: A bit jaded and cynical about life's rules.
Right now you are on track to being: A petty criminal
To be a better person: Help a friend in need, without being asked.

AHAHAHAHHAHA!

See the message the lil guy's carrying? He found me my calculator when it was gone one Monday morning.

Before that message, he was carrying "Accidently took my calculator when I was away? Kindly return. Thank you".

One morning, the calculator was waiting on my desk I went into the office...

This sure beats asking people for your lost property, isn't it?
;)
* The person who returned my calculator still haven't introduced him/herself though...
